Worship at Good Shepherd

The practice of worship at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church has been described as relaxed reverence. Our multi-cultural congregation is the confluence of many streams of spiritual influence:

  • Filipino heritage brings a strong Pinoy flavor to our devotions, along with the deep foundation of the Spanish Catholic tradition.
  • A foundation of Anglican traditionalism brought by the first pastor, George Whipple,
  • a dose of charismatic conservatism from the days of Father Richard Winkler,
  • and the more progressive and experimental liturgies of Father Layton Zimmer.
  • Our current priest, Marvin Lee Foltz, preaches in evangelical style, a result of his Baptist upbringing, and celebrates the liturgy as an Anglo-Catholic.
  • Our worship is also being transformed by the youth and their love of praise music.

The result is a catholic style of worship, combined with evangelical fervor among the faithful and a loving and liberating embrace of all kinds of people and practices.
